The software layer acts as the system’s “brain,” composed of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS). WMS is responsible for task scheduling and inventory management, while WCS controls equipment execution. Both systems communicate in real time to ensure that inventory data matches physical storage locations accurately.
The entire system operates based on instruction-driven control.
When an inbound task is received, the WMS assigns an optimal storage location based on predefined algorithms (such as nearest location or category clustering) and sends the instruction to the WCS. The WCS then directs the stacker crane to the inbound station, where it uses laser measurement and barcode positioning to lift the load to the target level and extend the fork for precise storage. The outbound process follows the reverse sequence. No manual intervention is required, and each movement is continuously verified through photoelectric sensors and encoders to ensure closed-loop accuracy.
Safety is the top priority in systems operating within high-bay aisles.
Stacker cranes are equipped with anti-fall devices that immediately lock onto guide rails in the event of hoisting cable failure. Physical limit stops are installed at both ends of the aisle to prevent overtravel. The electrical system includes overspeed detection that monitors motor rotation in real time and cuts power if thresholds are exceeded. In human-access areas, safety light curtains and emergency pull cords are deployed to protect maintenance personnel.

Maintenance personnel can monitor equipment health in real time via digital dashboards. When the system predicts that a component is approaching fatigue limits, it automatically generates maintenance work orders, shifting maintenance from reactive repair to predictive maintenance.
