High-speed Miniload AS/RS is an automated high-bay warehouse solution specifically designed for small-unit goods such as cartons and bins. The system integrates high-speed stacker cranes, dedicated racking structures, and an intelligent control system to achieve high-density storage and fast inbound/outbound handling of small items. It is a preferred “goods-to-person” picking solution for industries such as e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.
High-speed stacker crane:
The core equipment of the system adopts a lightweight aluminum structure with a double-column design. It is equipped with servo motors and high-precision laser distance measurement, with operating speeds up to 6 m/s and acceleration up to 4 m/s². It supports single-depth or multi-depth storage and retrieval, significantly improving cycle efficiency per operation.
Miniload dedicated racking system:
Composed of uprights, beams, and bin compartments, the structure uses high-precision rolled steel. Slot dimensions are customized according to bin specifications, and layer spacing is adjustable. Rack heights typically range from 6 to 20 meters. Single-depth and double-depth configurations are available to balance storage density and throughput efficiency.
Inbound/outbound conveyor system:
Includes roller conveyors, belt conveyors, lifts, and transfer devices, responsible for automatic movement of bins between stacker cranes and workstations. The system supports automatic scanning, weighing, and data verification to ensure operational accuracy.
Picking workstation (goods-to-person station):
The terminal execution unit is equipped with DPS (digital picking system), RF handheld terminals, or pick-to-light systems. It supports a goods-to-person picking model, eliminating walking distance for operators. Workers only perform picking, verification, and packing according to system prompts.
High-speed operation capability:
With high-speed stacker cranes and efficient conveyor systems, a single crane can achieve 100–150 cycles per hour. Overall system throughput can scale to thousands of bins per hour.
High storage density:
Through multi-level racking and multi-depth design, storage capacity per unit area is increased by 3–5 times compared to traditional shelving systems. Random storage strategies maximize space utilization.
High picking efficiency:
In goods-to-person mode, operator travel distance is nearly eliminated. Combined with light-directed picking systems, a single workstation can process 300–600 order lines per hour with low error rates.
Digitalization and traceability:
The system automatically records all inbound, outbound, relocation, and inventory operations, enabling full digital traceability. Batch and expiry date management supports compliance requirements in pharmaceutical and food industries.
1. Inbound process
Bins are placed on inbound conveyors manually or via automation (e.g., robotic arms) after packing or splitting. The system scans barcodes or RFID tags automatically, and the WMS assigns storage locations based on bin attributes (size, weight, category, batch).
2. Storage strategy
Stacker cranes execute instructions and store bins precisely at target locations. The system supports FIFO, FEFO, and other strategies. High-frequency SKUs are dynamically assigned to “golden zones” near inbound/outbound points.
3. Outbound process
The WMS generates picking tasks and sends them to the WCS. Stacker cranes retrieve target bins and deliver them via conveyor systems to designated picking stations. Full-case orders go directly to outbound zones, while split orders are processed at picking stations.
4. Dynamic inventory and slotting optimization
During idle periods, the system schedules automatic inventory checks using stacker cranes. Data analysis identifies scattered empty slots and reorganizes storage layout to optimize space utilization.
